Coquitlam East, known locally as the Dominion Avenue area or simply East Coquitlam, is the city's most rural pocket. The area along the Fraser River features large lots, acreage properties, and riverfront homes that offer a lifestyle distinctly different from the rest of Coquitlam.

The real estate market here is defined by its diversity — standard detached homes on 7,000 sq ft lots, small hobby farms, equestrian properties, and riverfront estates with deep-water access. The area has a semi-rural feel, with many long-time residents and multi-generational properties.

Colony Farm Regional Park, one of the Fraser Valley's premier bird-watching locations, occupies a large portion of the river frontage. The park features walking and cycling trails along the river dikes. Despite its rural character, East Coquitlam is only 15 minutes from Coquitlam Centre and SkyTrain.
